Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Echo Walk creates walking routes, tracks an active walk, and stores walk history on your device. Echo Walk does not require an account and does not operate a server that receives walk history, favorites, visited places, searches, or diagnostics.

2. Location

Echo Walk uses location to show your current position, create walking routes, measure progress and distance, detect arrival or route deviation, and restore an interrupted walk. Background location is active only while a walk is being tracked. It is disabled when the walk is paused or finished.

You can change location permission at any time in iOS Settings. Without location permission, features such as route creation from your current position and walk tracking will not be available.

3. Apple Services

Echo Walk uses Apple MapKit for maps, routes, and places, and Apple WeatherKit for weather in the distributed Release version. Apple may process these requests under its terms and privacy policy.

Destination searches, including train station and pet-friendly cafe searches, send the search request and approximate search area to Apple services to return results. Echo Walk's operator does not receive or retain these requests. Echo Walk does not import third-party venue ratings or reviews.

Development builds may use Open-Meteo to verify weather display behavior. This connection is not included in the Release version distributed through the App Store.

4. Data Stored on the Device

Echo Walk may store the following information on your device:

• walk history, route coordinates, duration, distance, ratings, and visited landmarks;
• favorite and visited places, goals, route preferences, and reminder settings;
• optional walk ratings and feedback reasons used to rank future routes;
• an interrupted active walk for recovery after relaunch; and
• up to 100 diagnostic entries containing time, operation, error domain, and numeric error code.

Diagnostics do not contain coordinates, route geometry, search text, addresses, or place names. Battery level and thermal state used during development energy checks are kept in memory for the current walk and are not uploaded.

5. Notifications and Export

Walk reminders and milestone messages use local iOS notifications. Echo Walk does not operate a remote push-notification server. You can change notification permission at any time in iOS Settings.

History leaves the app only when you explicitly export it. An exported file may contain route coordinates and visited landmarks. You choose where that file is sent or stored.

6. Retention, Deletion, and Your Choices

Local data remains until you delete a history item, select Privacy and Data > Delete All App Data, or remove the app. Delete All App Data removes walk history, active-walk recovery, favorites, visited places, goals, preferences, reminders, and diagnostics.

Information stored only on the device may be lost if the app is removed or the device fails. You are responsible for storing and managing any information you export.

7. Tracking and Advertising

Echo Walk does not display advertising, use tracking technologies, sell personal data, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.

8. Children

Echo Walk is not directed specifically to children. A parent or guardian should supervise a child using location-based walking features.

9. Safety

Suggested routes and place information may be incomplete or change over time. You remain responsible for following signs, traffic rules, access restrictions, weather warnings, and current venue policies.

10. Changes and Contact

This policy will be updated before Echo Walk adds material data practices such as accounts, cloud sync, analytics, advertising, or third-party AI services. The effective date will change when the policy is updated.
